Thyroid disorders arise when the butterfly-shaped gland in the neck produces too little hormone (hypothyroidism) or too much (hyperthyroidism). Women are affected far more often than men.
Common signs
- Hypothyroidism: weight gain, fatigue, dry skin, hair fall, cold intolerance, constipation, heavy periods
- Hyperthyroidism: weight loss, palpitations, anxiety, tremor, heat intolerance, sweating
- Swelling of the neck (goitre)
- Irregular periods and difficulty conceiving
How homoeopathy approaches it
Rather than suppressing the symptom alone, a homoeopathic physician studies the whole person — the pattern of complaints, what makes them better or worse, general health, temperament and history — and selects a remedy that matches that individual picture. Treatment aims to raise the body’s own resistance so that relief is lasting and relapses become fewer. Hormone levels are monitored regularly during treatment, and existing medication is adjusted only on medical advice.
