A keloid is an overgrowth of scar tissue that spreads beyond the boundary of the original wound — after a cut, burn, acne, piercing, vaccination or surgery. It is firm, raised, often shiny, and may keep growing for months.
Common signs
- Raised, firm, rubbery scar larger than the original injury
- Pink, red or darker than surrounding skin
- Itching, tenderness or pain
- Commonest on the chest, shoulders, ear lobes and upper back
How homoeopathy approaches it
Rather than suppressing the symptom alone, a homoeopathic physician studies the whole person — the pattern of complaints, what makes them better or worse, general health, temperament and history — and selects a remedy that matches that individual picture. Treatment aims to raise the body’s own resistance so that relief is lasting and relapses become fewer. Homoeopathic treatment aims to soften and flatten the keloid, relieve itching and pain, and reduce the tendency to form new ones — which matters because keloids frequently return after surgical removal.
