Arthritis & Homoeopathy

Arthritis means inflammation of one or more joints, causing pain, stiffness and reduced movement. Osteoarthritis follows wear-and-tear with age; rheumatoid arthritis is an auto-immune condition that may affect many joints together.

Common signs

  • Pain and stiffness, often worse in the morning or after rest
  • Swelling, warmth or redness of the joint
  • Cracking sounds and reduced range of movement
  • Fatigue and low-grade fever in inflammatory types

How homoeopathy approaches it

Rather than suppressing the symptom alone, a homoeopathic physician studies the whole person — the pattern of complaints, what makes them better or worse, general health, temperament and history — and selects a remedy that matches that individual picture. Treatment aims to raise the body’s own resistance so that relief is lasting and relapses become fewer. Homoeopathic treatment is directed at reducing pain and inflammation, slowing progression and improving mobility, and may be taken alongside physiotherapy.
