Gout & Homoeopathy

Gout is a form of arthritis caused by deposits of uric-acid crystals in a joint — classically the big toe — producing sudden, severe pain and swelling.

Common signs

  • Sudden, intense pain in a single joint, often at night
  • Red, hot, swollen and extremely tender joint
  • Repeated attacks over months or years
  • Raised uric acid on blood tests

How homoeopathy approaches it

Rather than suppressing the symptom alone, a homoeopathic physician studies the whole person — the pattern of complaints, what makes them better or worse, general health, temperament and history — and selects a remedy that matches that individual picture. Treatment aims to raise the body’s own resistance so that relief is lasting and relapses become fewer. Diet advice (reducing red meat, alcohol and sugary drinks) goes hand in hand with treatment.
