A gastric or peptic ulcer is an open sore in the lining of the stomach or duodenum. Infection with H. pylori and long use of pain-killers are the usual causes; stress and smoking make it worse.
Common signs
- Burning pain in the upper abdomen, often related to meals
- Nausea, bloating, loss of appetite
- Dark stools or vomiting of blood in complicated cases — seek urgent care
- Weight loss when long-standing
How homoeopathy approaches it
Rather than suppressing the symptom alone, a homoeopathic physician studies the whole person — the pattern of complaints, what makes them better or worse, general health, temperament and history — and selects a remedy that matches that individual picture. Treatment aims to raise the body’s own resistance so that relief is lasting and relapses become fewer. Treatment aims at healing the ulcer, relieving pain and preventing recurrence.
