Haemorrhoids (piles) are swollen veins in and around the anus. Constipation, straining, long sitting, pregnancy and a low-fibre diet are the usual causes.
Common signs
- Bright red bleeding while passing stool
- Pain, itching or a feeling of fullness
- A lump that protrudes and may go back in
- Mucus discharge or soiling
How homoeopathy approaches it
Rather than suppressing the symptom alone, a homoeopathic physician studies the whole person — the pattern of complaints, what makes them better or worse, general health, temperament and history — and selects a remedy that matches that individual picture. Treatment aims to raise the body’s own resistance so that relief is lasting and relapses become fewer. Many patients find relief without surgery; fibre, fluids and regular bowel habit are an essential part of treatment.
