A food allergy is an immune reaction to a particular food — commonly milk, eggs, nuts, wheat, soya or shellfish. It differs from food intolerance, which is a digestive difficulty.
Common signs
- Itching, hives or swelling of lips and face after eating
- Vomiting, cramps or diarrhoea
- Sneezing, wheezing or cough
- Severe reactions need immediate emergency care
How homoeopathy approaches it
Rather than suppressing the symptom alone, a homoeopathic physician studies the whole person — the pattern of complaints, what makes them better or worse, general health, temperament and history — and selects a remedy that matches that individual picture. Treatment aims to raise the body’s own resistance so that relief is lasting and relapses become fewer. Known trigger foods are avoided while treatment works on the over-reactive constitution.
